Fences and farm finances in focus

DAVID Stewart from the Department of Primary Industries will explain the design principles of fence construction for both conventional and electric fencing, at a fire recovery fencing workshop on 13 June.
Following practical demonstrations and using a local property as a venue, participants will be able to practice the necessary hands-on skills of tying fence knots and straining wires.
The workshop is at 36 School Road, Labertouche at 9.30am to 4pm. Lunch is included.
To register or for more information, call Carolyn Ferguson on 5624 2409.
A special focus farm open day for Gippsland farmers and others is scheduled for 18 June at the Mardan Focus Farm.
The theme is physically and financially surviving 2009-10.
Data from Matt and Robyn Colwill’s farm business will be made available to help other Gippsland dairy farming families gain another perspective on how to cope with the dilemmas arising from reduced milk prices.
The focus farm will be open between 10.30am to 2.30pm. Tea and coffee provided.
