NATIONAL Trust Cardinia Casey Branch member Ian Good said the branch had made great advances since it began seven years ago.
Mr Good told community representatives during a wine and cheese night at Pioneers Park, Berwick, on Monday 18 May that membership growth and support for the branch had created a strong organisation.
“We have anniversary dinners and guest speakers and visits to wonderful properties.
“One interest we have is to help upgrade the Avenue of Honour,” he said.
The City of Casey has started a process to bring the avenue trees to full health in time for the Gallipoli centenary in 2015.
He said the trust had also designed a logo for use on heritage buildings. Mr Good said the branch was concerned about the design of a major development at the corner of Lyall Road and Anne Street, Berwick.
“We consider the trust’s role is to ensure that all aspects of new buildings preserve the heritage feel of the village. We will not support the present plans for this building,” he said.
