COUNTRY music singer Emma-Jane Montgomery has her sights set on the world music talent quest circuit after topping yet another Australian talent competition.
Ms Montgomery was recently crowned senior overall champion at the Orana Country Talent Quest in Dubbo, and is vying to represent Australia at the World Karaoke Championships in Finland.
And the 21-year-old from Bunyip is on her way after last week winning a karaoke heat in Traralgon.
“Hopefully I’ll get in and go to Finland,” she said.
Ms Montgomery is a regular on the Australian music talent circuit. She last year won the Royal Flying Doctors Talent Quest in Tamworth and has recorded wins and placings in various other competitions nation-wide.
More recently, Ms Montgomery topped the Orana Country Music Talent Quest, recording a top-three placing for every song she performed.
Her rendition of Hank William’s Saw The Light saw her win the gospel senior section, while her version of Catherine Britt’s Too Far Gone was judged best in the Australia Senior category.
Montgomery also placed second in the senior vocal and third in the country rock senior sections.
“I’m country-rock but I like to sing everything,” she said.
Montgomery is looking to form her own band as well as perform Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain tribute shows in the near future.
For now, she is busy studying for an Events Diploma in Music at GippsTAFE’s Morwell campus and preparing for Top of the State Talent Quest at the Mildura Country Music Festival in September.
