Green house

Travis and Joanne Parker, Nar Nar Goon residents, said the Green Army had shown them that there were people and groups out there just like them.
“I have had a look through the showbag and there’s a range of useful information on other local landcare groups and the Cardinia Environment Coalition,” Mr Parker said.
“It’s great for people to know about the things available to them in their own backyard.”
“It was good to know of the other groups out there just like myself doing their bit for the environment.”
Mr Parker, a landscape gardener, said they choose to adopt more environmentally sustainable measures around their home and garden, and through their business, to make the best use of the resources already available to them.
“If we use the resources available to us wisely then obviously we are going to see the benefits,” he said.
The Parkers have installed two water tanks, built two vegetable patches, use compost bins and have fitted tinted PVC screens on windows to help keep the house cooler.
Mr Parker said if the budget permitted then the installation of water tanks was the best way people could do their bit for the environment.
“Everyone wants a beautiful garden and lawn and through the use of water tanks you can’t go wrong,” he said.
