Club’s new team

By Kelly Yates
MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Berwick welcomed their new president John Rosenthal last week as the club celebrated its 49th changeover dinner.
About 90 people attended the event at Castello’s Berwick Springs Hotel in Berwick on Thursday.
New president Mr Rosenthal said some of his aims for the coming year included a focus on the club’s growth in memberships and being more involved with the local youth through various Rotary projects and initiatives.
“We’ll also be continuing to raise money through the Rotary Foundation for the Polio Plus Project which has the main aim of eradicating polio,” he said.
District Governor Brian Norris inducted Mr Rosenthal as the new president on the night, handing over the symbolic Rotary collar.
Mr Rosenthal has been living in the local area for nearly 20 years.
He said he enjoyed the local and international projects led by Rotary.
“All of the projects have one aim – to make the world a better place,” he said.
“The Rotary Club of Berwick does a range of things in an effort to give back to the community such as standing on the street corner collecting money for the Red Cross, holding the monthly farmers market and running school debutante balls for Kambrya College and Berwick Secondary College.”
Mr Rosenthal said he also enjoyed the fellowship at the club.
“We have a terrific bunch of people at the club, with many friendships being formed,” he said.
Rotarians Tim Moore, Chris Booth, Rob Taylor and Lynne Westland were also presented with Paul Harris Fellow Sapphires at the changeover dinner.
