ON Sunday the under-14 Cougars travelled to Karingal to play against the Peninsula Junior Soccer Club and went down 6-0.
The game started well with a strong midfield and offensive combination linking up to score an exciting early goal for the young Cougars.
The match remained tight for much of the first half, but Peninsula gradually took control and fired in five unanswered goals before half time.
The break came at the right time allow the Cougars to regroup and to start from scratch. In a high quality second half, the Cougars had a number of scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalise on them.
The defensive effort lifted and Peninsula were restricted to only one goal for the second half.
The performance of the team shows promise and with a little more experience and some consistency, the club feels a win is not far away.
