Match of the day

Berwick: Grant Noonan has become the mainstay of the side in 10 weeks. The Wickers game plan revolves around his huge frame at full-forward and he has not let his side down so far.

Cranbourne: The Eagles backline, led by Matt Rus, Aaron Shedlock, Daniel Watson and enduring veteran Troy Datson, has been its springboard of attack all year.

Berwick: Will the Wickers rise to the occasion and defeat a side higher than them on the ladder, or will a ‘good effort’ and fifth position be enough for the players this year?

Cranbourne: The Eagles reverted back to become a one-man band around star forward Marc Holt last week. Can they cut the apron strings and kick the ball to the jumper, not the man?

Berwick: Injuries have nobbled Berwick ruckman Dale Robinson so far this season, but there was more than a glimmer of top form shown by the big bloke over the past two weeks. Look out!

Cranbourne: He hasn’t been in the spotlight too much this season, but the feeling is that the awesome talent of Ray ‘Razor’ George is about to explode.

The two sides look evenly matched across the field and this game will be won in the coaches’ box.
Whichever brains’ trust gets the right match-ups on opposition match winners will likely be toasting success.
The Wickers have a good attack, but Cranbourne’s defence has been its strength this year and that will be the key to a close-fought victory.
