Moving escape in kidnap drama

A PAKENHAM man was kidnapped at knifepoint from a private address but escaped when he jumped out of a moving car as it passed a booze bus at more than 70km/h.
The bizarre chain of events began at 6.50pm on Tuesday 30 June at an address in Nabilla Court, Pakenham.
Two men broke into the house and demanded money from a 23-year-old Pakenham man.
Senior Constable Ben Boulton, of Pakenham’s Criminal Investigation Unit, said the altercation was in relation to a debt.
Police said the two men threatened the Pakenham man with a knife before they forced him from the house into a vehicle.
The car was travelling west on the Princes Highway and the man jumped out when it approached a booze bus randomly breath-testing motorists.
Sen Const Boulton said the Pakenham man jumped out of the vehicle as it travelled between 70km/h and 80km/h and flagged down police.
He said the victim sustained minor injuries such as bruises and cuts during the ordeal.
Police on Monday charged two men from the Knox area, aged 18 and 36, with kidnapping, false imprisonment, extortion and aggravated burglary.
The men will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in September.
