Women knocked

TWO female pedestrians were knocked down in Pakenham last week.
A 55-year-old woman was hit by a car on McGregor Road, Pakenham, around 5.50pm last Wednesday.
Paramedics from Pakenham and Hampton Park and an ambulance helicopter were called to the scene, on the corner of McGregor Road and Livingstone Boulevard.
Paramedic Thomas Finneran said they arrived within seven minutes to find the woman lying on the road, writhing in pain.
“It appeared she had gone over the car and landed head first on the road,” he said.
Mr Finneran said the woman suffered head injuries and fractures to her left leg and arm and it is suspected she sustained a fractured pelvis.
She was fitted with a neck brace, splints to support the fractures and an ECG monitor was used to check her heart.
“We were very concerned about her head injury, so flight paramedics put a drip in her arm and gave her some drugs to place her in an induced coma,” Mr Finneran said.
“A breathing tube was inserted into her airway and we took over breathing for her.”
The woman was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A 46-year-old woman was also hit as she walked across the pedestrian crossing outside Safeway on Monday night about 6pm.
The woman suffered minor grazes and bruising but was taken to hospital as a precaution.
