A HEAVIER yarding of improved quality head were on offer this Wednesday at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, and saw all categories record a good rise in value.
Seventy-three bullocks sold to very strong demand and made from 132 cents to 191.2, to rise of 12 cents.
Forty-two heifers recorded the best rise, lifting 17 cents, selling to 198.2 with the price range 122 to 198.2.
Eighty-four steers were yarded with interested buyers keeping agents busy on the selling platform, steers were up five cents to range from 106 to 202.2.
One hundred and 84 vealers saw quality above recent sales and lifted their price average by seven cents with a price range of 140 to 240 cents, with several pens of well-bred store steers yarded. This kept feedlotters on their toes, competing for the offerings.
Strong competition had all buyers busy, as bulls and cows sold to very strong demand on Thursday.
Thirty-three bulls were sold and made from 128 cents to 181 cents, lifting their price nine cents on last sale.
Thursday’s bullocks also fared strongly, selling from 136.2 to 190 cents to average 169.9 cents.
Four hundred and 64 cows yarded with heavy cows carrying good condition making from 118 cents to 158.2 and lighter cows from 84.6 to 122 cents.
The overall cow price was also nine cents up this week.
