Panthers stalk finals

PEARCEDALE applied the pressure after half-time against a depleted Hastings to draw away and all but seal its position in the Nepean League top five with a 40-point win.
Star forward Kerem Baskaya booted eight goals in the victory with the Blues unable to compete in attack due to the absence of coach Tyson Lane and spearhead Steve Raspin.
However in a downside for the Panthers, Baskaya was reported for striking and was offered a two-match ban after the game.
Sorrento proved too strong for Dromana, recording a solid 32-point victory, while Rye overwhelmed Somerville by 39 points.
Frankston was far too accomplished for Red Hill, winning its clash by 32 points, while in the final game Tyabb came from behind to beat Rosebud by 28 points.
In Peninsula League, top side Seaford suffered an upset 13-point loss to Edithvale-Aspendale in a high-scoring shootout.
Forty goals were kicked in a big day of attack with the Eagles boasting 13 goalkickers and the Tigers 12 in an amazing game.
Bonbeach moved another game closer to its first-ever finals appearance in the league with an unspectacular 18-point victory over neighbours Chelsea.
Former AFL star Ben Holland was the only multiple goalkicker with two majors.
In other games, Mount Eliza was too slick for Langwarrin, winning with ease by 67 points and Mornington stormed home to snatch a four-point win over Karingal.
