Pooch paradise

PAKENHAM residents can now let their beloved canines run free at Toomuc Creek Reserve.
Civic leaders have approved an off-leash dog area at the reserve, which dog lovers can use on weekdays from 7am to 7pm.
Cardinia Shire Councillor Collin Ross said it was great that locals had another area to let their dogs socialise. “With backyards getting smaller and smaller all the time dogs get bored in their backyards,” he said.
There are now 12 off-leash dog parks in the Cardinia Shire, with most used regularly by members of the Cardinia Dog Group (CDG). They have also been walking their pooches alongside the Toomuc Creek and are looking forward to letting them off their leashes on the western side of the waterway.
CDG president Ed Kirby has urged dog owners to respect other people using the park when letting their canines socialise at Toomuc Creek Reserve during the 12-month trial. To get involved with the CDG call Mr Kirby on 0438 413 853.
