THE rapidly growing Cardinia United Junior Soccer Club officially has a home.
Members of the club, councillors and council officers gathered at the Lakeside Recreation Reserve Sports Pavilion to celebrate its official opening on Thursday.
The pavilion features spacious change rooms, an office, an official’s room, first aid facility, a scorer’s box with view of the ground, room for equipment storage and a large kitchen and kiosk area.
Cardinia Shire mayor Bill Pearson was pleased to declare the facility open.
“Whether you know it as soccer or football, the game with the round ball is as popular as ever,” he said.
Cardinia United Soccer Club president Rob Hastings said members of the club, nicknamed the Cougars, were grateful for the assistance of the Cardinia Shire Council and Delfin in getting the facility up and running.
Mr Hastings said the pavilion was in a great location and hoped interest in the sport would continue to flourish.
