Prices firm on high demand

THEyarding for Wednesday last week of 467 head saw good rises in all categories at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange Warragul, as yarding numbers ease and demand remains high.
Good quality bullocks saw a four cent increase in averages, with a range of 166 to 191.2 cents.
Heifers had a nine cent rise on average, making to 193.2 cents, heifers made from 103.6 to 193.2.
Steers managed the best lift on price averaging 12 cents dearer at 184.1. Their prices remained steady throughout with a range of 138.6 to 203.2.
Prices in a big yarding of vealers rose five cents on average to post a high of 235.6 cents, with prices ranging from a low of 111.2.
The smaller yarding of heavy bullocks saw the average weight ease from 407 kilograms last week to 352 this week.
The Thursday bull and cow sale kept prices on par with recent weeks, remaining firm.
Bulls rose 1.5 cents on average to 156.6 and obtained a very handy top of 180 cents.
Cows did slip slightly to 130.52 which was two cents easier, but contained a higher percentage of very light dairy choppers, top was 165 cents for several pen lots of handy Angus heifers.
