Club left high and dry by theft

By Melissa Grant
MEMBERS of the Nar Nar Goon Pony Club have nothing to go on after two 5000-litre water tanks were stolen from their Yarrabubba Reserve headquarters.
They can no longer use toilets at the reserve and have no clue as to who made off with the tanks.
The club’s secretary Emma Parker has warned community groups about securing their property in the wake of the incident which has robbed the club of its only water source.
Ms Parker said the tanks were almost full when the theft occurred, sometime between Sunday 26 July and Sunday 2 August. Slip chains were also removed from yards at the reserve.
“They’ve drained them first and you can see where they’ve rolled them out,” she said.
Ms Parker said it was extremely disheartening that someone went to the trouble of emptying the tanks and ferrying them away from the reserve.
“We have to fund-raise to provide things like this,” she said.
“The kids can’t even get a drink, it’s very sad.”
It’s still a dry club – adult riders and pony club members still have no water as they wait for new tanks to arrive.
Pony club member Daniel Fisher said he went to turn on the pump on Sunday, when he discovered the water tanks had vanished.
“We had no water on Sunday – we had to bucket our own water in trailers,” he said.
Mr Fisher said the Cardinia Shire Council, which manages the reserve, was coming out to inspect the reserve this week.
Senior Sergeant Alan McCarthy said it was likely a vehicle was involved in the theft and urged anyone with information about the incident to call Pakenham Police on 5945 2500.
