THE commitment to underground power has removed a major hurdle for the Pakenham Racing Club as it prepares to relocate to a 580 acre site between Nar Nar Goon and Tynong.
The club has welcomed the news that the powerlines will go underground – rather than traversing the site of the new multi-million racing complex.
Pakenham Racing Club chairman Don Duffy said it was great that the powerlines would be buried and collocated along the plant’s pipeline route.
“The racing club is obviously happy,” he said. “It (northerly grid option) would’ve been a major obstacle in the relocation of the Pakenham racecourse.”
