DAILY healthy fruit breaks and riding and striding to school are among the ways Gembrook Primary students are improving their well-being.
The students recently celebrated when the school became the 100th “Go for Your Life” school, an initiative which encourages them to have a healthy lifestyle through eating right and emphasising the importance of exercise.
All Gembrook Primary School students are encouraged to bring fruit or vegetables every day as part of their 10am healthy fruit break and on Fridays students have “Free Fruit Friday” where they’re supplied with a piece of fresh fruit.
They are also encouraged to “switch off and play”, limit their intake of unhealthy foods and to ride and stride their way to school.
Students recently received a variety of sports equipment, which they can borrow at recess and lunchtime, as an award for becoming the 100th “Go for Your Life” school.
