Bypass signs go up

SIGNS highlighting the need for a Kooweerup Bypass will be erected around the township over the coming weeks.
Members of the Kooweerup Township Committee have come up with slogans for the signs which will direct the public to an online petition.
‘Up ahead you may get stuck; Yuk, you got stuck; and Enjoy the Delay? NO’, are the catchphrases the group has touted.
Signs will be put up near the Kooweerup bridges, on Rossiter Road, Sybella Avenue directing motorists to www.kooweebypass.com.au
Kooweerup Township Committee chairman Ray Brown said he was hopeful the signs would be put up over the next fortnight.
Mr Brown said the website would most likely be launched within the next month.
“It will be in time for the summer traffic coming through because that’s when it will have the most impact,” he said. Mr Brown said the group was examining the possibility of a phone number linking the website so motorists could ring up and register their complaints.
The township committee will also consider designing bumper stickers to use as part of its campaign.
VicRoads has drawn up two routes for a Kooweerup Bypass, but the long-awaited project is yet to attract any government funding.
