Mail delivery to remain

COCKATOO’S mail delivery and collection arrangements will remain the same, after results of a poll showed residents were happy with their mail service.
Seventy per cent of residents in the township indicated they were happy to continue collecting their mail over the counter at Cockatoo Post Office or from a reduced rate Post Office Box.
The poll, conducted over the last month, needed more than 50 per cent of respondents to indicate they wanted change for delivery arrangements to alter.
Australia Post spokeswoman Melanie Ward said residents had sent Australia Post a very clear message.
“It is vital that we are guided by the will of the wider community and a clear majority of residents have firmly indicated that they don’t want their mail arrangements to change,” Ms Ward said.
Australia Post hand delivered the polling documents to eligible residents, with a letter providing comprehensive information about the polling process and important considerations that residents needed to take into account when making their decision.
Public information advertisements were also placed in local newspapers, including the Gazette, throughout the polling period.
