Back-roads blitz

POLICE intercepted three drink drivers as part of an operation targeting Cardinia’s back roads.
They breath tested 519 drivers on Friday on McDonalds Track, Lang Lang, and Kooweerup-Longwarry Road, Bayles during Operation ACTA.
A Lang Lang man, 41, was the first drink driver police intercepted. He was fined $350 and lost 10 demerit points after registering a blood alcohol reading of 0.064.
Police then stripped a 35-year-old Lang Lang man of his licence for six months after he recorded his second drink driving offence, blowing 0.069.
But the highest blood alcohol reading for the evening was a 56-year-old woman who blew 0.158 in Bayles.
Sergeant Nigel Atkins said the woman, who was living out of her car, was driving while suspended due to a previous drink driving charge.
She was remanded into custody and was due to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
