Charge on hold

CIVIC leaders have deferred the consideration of a special charge scheme for Ryan Road, Pakenham.
Councillors were to debate the matter at last week’s council meeting, but will now decide on the scheme at a meeting on 19 October.
Council officers recommended that the decision be postponed to allow for full and proper consideration of written and verbal submissions.
It is proposed that the council will partly fund 300 metres of pavement and associated drainage in Ryan Road, between Canty Lane and the north entrance of Pinehill Drive.
The council has received several submissions after it resolved at its 20 July meeting to serve a notice of intention to declare the special charge scheme.
The total cost of the project is $382,370 of which $217,951 will be recovered from benefiting property owners.
