CARDINIA Shire councillors have again deferred the consideration of a special charge scheme for Ryan Road, Pakenham.
Cr Collin Ross said the matter had to be put on hold so a committee could examine submissions and make an informed decision about the proposal.
It is the second time councillors have deferred the issue in as many months. They were to debate the matter at the council meeting on 21 September, but deferred the issue to Monday night’s meeting.
It will now be debated at the council meeting on 16 November.
It is proposed that council will partly fund 300 metres of pavement and associated drainage in Ryan Road, between Canty Lane and the north entrance of Pinehill Drive.
The council has received several submissions after it resolved at its 20 July meeting to serve a notice of intention to declare the special charge scheme.
The total cost of the project is $382,370 of which $217,951 will be recovered from benefiting property owners.
Crs Blenkhorn, Pearson and Ross make up the committee appointed to consider submissions.
