CARDINIA Shire Council has started a trial of three road stabilisation products to improve the shire’s unsealed road network.
Two roads have been chosen for the trial and include a 1500 metre section of Kenilworth Road, Beaconsfield and another 1500 metre section of Aura Vale Road, Menzies Creek.
Cardinia Shire Council’s operations manager Charles Taveira said the council would monitor the trial over the next six months to find which product performs the best in reducing dust emission and stopping the rutting and potholing of roads.
“The trial’s results will assist in considering these products for other unsealed roads throughout the municipality,” he said.
“If a success these products will lead to improved road stabilisation and potentially reduce maintenance costs,” Mr Taveira said.
In maintaining its extensive unsealed road network, Cardinia Shire Council continues to explore different technologies. The trial commenced Tuesday 20 October and has received council funding of $6000.
