Last-minute filly triumphs

By Jade Lawton
PAKENHAM’S Lucy Beveridge managed to take the title of Best Dressed Local Lady, despite completing her outfit at the last minute.
Ms Beveridge, 18, purchased her shoes just a few hours before the competition after convincing her dad to drive her to Fountain Gate.
Luckily, the judges appreciated her shoe selection.
“I only decided to enter today – I’m shocked,” she said.
Ms Beveridge was wearing a dusty pink draped dress from Sportsgirl, Equip fascinator, pearl accessories and had a Forever New handbag,
Her most recent purchase, the shoes, were also from Sportsgirl.
Ms Beveridge came out on top of a field of 42 other Cardinia Shire residents, including at least two mother-child combinations, to win a prize pool worth $3300.
Mayor Bill Pearson presented Ms Beveridge with her sash, and she avoided a fashion faux pas by discreetly swapping it to the correct side before her victory lap of the catwalk.
Second place went to Carlee Deering, also of Pakenham, who donned a classic black and white ensemble.
The mother-of-two purchased her dress and gloves from Cherry Closet in Berwick and topped off her outfit with a hat made by Gregory Lander.
Rounding up Pakenham’s fashionable trifecta was Lisa Joy Worden, who made her own raw silk black and white frock and decorated her own hat.
“I’m surprised, it was so lovely to place,” she said.
