Suicide stopper

There are times when ordinary people face extraordinary problems which make them vulnerable to suicidal thinking.
The Life Care and Suicide Prevention Seminar to be held in Emerald next week will teach individuals how to respond pro-actively when someone close to them displays signs of suicidal thoughts.
Suicides take the lives of more than 2000 Australians every year and have a devastating impact on friendship groups, families, workplaces and communities.
The reduction of suicide is the responsibility of all Australians. An individual experiencing emotional, physical or spiritual trauma is more likely to confide in a friend, family member, teacher or work colleague before they seek professional assistance. You can be the person who recognises the warning signs and offers an alternative pathway to recovery – which does not include suicide.
Mark is the National Director for Chaplaincy Australia and Chaplain to Motorsports. He has spoken before diverse audiences ranging from school groups, churches, individuals and communities affected by trauma, grief and loss. He has nearly 30 years of experience in critical incident response, suicide negotiation and pastoral ministry.
Mark has a passion to see individuals empowered through “Life Care and Suicide Prevention” training. Emerald AOG Church will host a training seminar at the new GEMCO performing arts centre in Emerald on Tuesday 17 November at 6.30pm.
The cost is $30 which includes a training material and refreshments. Please email or call Darryl to register your attendance. Registrations will also be accepted on the night. Contact: Darryl Bridges on 0430 442 422 or dbridges@internode.on.net.
