Snakebite alert

A SNAKEBITE in Emerald last week should act as a reminder for residents to remain alert as summer hits.
Ambulance Victoria paramedics treated a man for a suspected snakebite in Emerald on Friday just before 8am.
Intensive Care paramedic Gary Robertson arrived to find the man lying on his bed with the leg bandaged and elevated.
“He had been working in his rose garden when he felt a sharp stabbing pain on his right ankle,” he said.
“The 43-year-old man’s ankle was swollen and he had a noticeable bite mark. He was taken to the Angliss Hospital in a stable condition.
“As the weather gets warmer it is important to wear long pants and appropriate footwear when near water or in long grass, ”Mr Robertson said.
