Board with bank

LAKESIDE Pakenham is one step closer to having its own community bank.
A board of directors has been formed, with six members from the steering committee and two other community members nominated and successfully appointed to the board.
The first board meeting was held last week to plan the way forward and plan for the future of the bank.
Over the coming months there will be a transition from steering committee to board as the prospectus is launched and the opening date nears.
Chairman of the steering committee David Impey said: “I am delighted that we have nearly half of the committee taking up director roles as I believe each and every one of them has something of value to bring to the board.”
He said it had been a long process to get this far, but he was glad to be at this point.
“It would not have been possible without the time and dedication that each one of the steering committee members has put in.”
The Prospectus for the Bank will be launched on 27 January and the prospectus evening held at the Cardinia Cultural Centre on Tuesday 2 February 2 from 6.30pm – 10.30pm.
Marketing co-ordinator Bernie Wilson said Tuesday 2 February was the night all people who pledged their support should make it a reality. All pledge holders will soon receive an information pack in the mail detailing the prospectus and the steps forward.
Invitations for the prospectus night will be sent out early in the new year.
Steering committee members are still working hard in the local community, with a barbecue held on the opening day of Bunnings in Pakenham last month.
Money raised was donated to both the Little Athletics Club and the Cougars Soccer Club.
Delfin Summer Sunrise Breakfasts have started again and are held on the second Saturday of each month at the top end of the lake along with the information tables at Coles in Lakeside every Saturday from 11am–1pm.
