Pressure

By Melissa Meehan
Senior community engagement advisor Lucy Marshall and her colleagues discussed the supply and price of potable water and servicing the capacity of the existing sewerage plant in the town.
Water systems manager Andrew Chapman explained that the pressure of the water supply and the flow rate, is a function of elevation in that the town is supplied from a tank on a water tower.
He said there were no immediate plans to raise the pressure of the water, adding that a new connection to the desalination plant pipeline will be used as back-up should supply from the Tarago reservoir be interrupted.
A lively discussion followed with many complaints from residents who wanted the water pressure increased.
But Mr Chapman said the ageing pipe work in the town may be too old for any increased pressure.
