Hubby auction

By Lilly O’Gorman
The 22-year-old Koowee-rup man is on a mission to raise $10, 000 to send a team of five volunteers to flood stricken Queensland to help with the massive clean-up effort, and a Hubby Auction is just one way he will reach that goal.
As part of his fundraising, the auction will be held at the Pakenham Hotel on 27 January at 8pm.
Entry is a gold coin donation and the winning bidders will take home a spouse for one day, to enjoy a candle lit dinner or perhaps to complete odd jobs around the home.
Stuart, a volunteer fire fighter, said his CFA training means he was adequately equipped to deal with the devastation the floods have caused.
“Being a fire fighter, I have salvage and overhaul experience,” he said.
“We can salvage items that affected families might be missing and help with repair work.”
Stuart said the team, consisting of Pakenham residents Dan Clark, Kirby Williams, Ashley Richardson and Richard Harrop, would like to head over in a couple of weeks, once the flood waters have receded.
He said the ability of Australians to pull together in a crisis is what inspired him to fundraise and put the team together for the relief effort.
“I think I want to help especially because of the support Victoria received on a national and international scale after Black Saturday,” he said.
So far nine potential ‘hubbies’ and one ‘wife’ are up for auction, but Stuart and his team say there is room for plenty more. Contact Stuart on 0487 399 896.
