TOORADIN beat Cardinia by 25 runs in the first innings. Tooradin batted first and made 9/171 on a slow and reduced ground size. With his side 3/59 at drinks, Aaron Avery showed his class, top-scoring with 66. He and Ash Adams (27) shared a 64-run partnership. Avery also helped put on a 34-run stand for the seventh wicket. Matt Walker continued his good form with the bat with 39.
Tooradin took the early wicket of Ben Darose when Rory Adler held a hard catch. Ash Adams had the dangerous Neil Barfus caught at 63 from 16 overs. Cardinia continued to rely on skipper Mark Cooper. Rory Adler continued his good form with the ball with 2/27 off eight. Steve Hamill’s second spell rocked the opposition when he took 3/11 from four overs and slowed down the scoring.
Skipper Brenton Adams took a great catch to dismiss S. Paterson and Sean Baker took catch of the day, a one-hander to dismiss Cooper when the score was at 9/139. Eventually Cardinia was all out for 146. Steve Hamill finished with 4/28 off eight overs, Ash Adams 2/21, Cal 1/30 and Mantel 1/20.
SUB DISTRICT
Tooradin was well beaten by Cardinia in a disappointing performance. Cardinia won the toss and batted and had two early wickets at 2/4. Cardinia consolidated but wickets continued to fall and it was all out for 137 in the 34th over.
Tooradin opened up with a 51-run stand between Kane Latham (34) and Shane Somers (20). No other batsmen reached double figures and it was all out for 101 (26).
B GRADE
Tooradin narrowly defeated Devon Meadows by three wickets. Devon Meadows batted first and was 7/113 from 40 overs. Adam Galea (3/29), Adam Richmond (3/24) and Daniel Quinn (1/17) performed well. Tooradin struggled with the bat and was 6/64 in the 20th over before Andrew Sparks (35 n.o.) and Adam Galea (26) featured in a match-winning partnership of 51 runs.
UNDER 15
Tooradin Green played Cardinia on a wet playing surface. Batting first Tooradin made 6/75 off 25. Nic Simpson retired on 25 as did Andrew Proctor. After that Tooradin suffered a collapse and lost 6/11. In reply Cardinia made 4/117 with Lewis Johnson 1/8 off four and Rohan Simpson 1/11 off four the best of the bowlers. Owen Johnstone took 1/9 and Alex Johnson 1/3 (1).
Tooradin Red travelled to Pakenham and lost by 48 runs. Tooradin’s feature was the batting performance of Dylan Sutton who top-scored with 42 out of the team’s 68. After Dylan retired on 25 he came back in to bat with under-11 Harry Spierings as they took the score from 8/46 to 9/68. Harry batted for seven overs and finished one not out. After having Pakenham 4/40 it got away to end up 6/106. Tim Lenders 2/8, Luke Adams 2/15 and Harry Spiering 2/8 were the best of the bowlers.
