CARDINIA Shire councillor Brett Owen wants Beaconsfield to have its name in shining lights – or at least on a sign along the Monash Freeway.
“We have signs pointing to Officer, but nothing to point visitors to Beaconsfield,” Cr Owen said.
“I just think that VicRoads needs to add Beaconsfield to the Officer sign.”
He said with the build-up of traffic on Clyde Road, motorists could use the Officer exit instead.
“With the growth of Beaconsfield and Officer, it’s important that we have clear signage that lets people know where they are going,” he said.
A sign, pointing to Beaconsfield, is located along the old highway but cannot be seen from the Pakenham Bypass.
Cr Owen wrote to VicRoads last week asking for appropriate directional signage for the exit.
He said the matter was brought to his attention at a previous Beaconsfield Progress Association meeting.
