LAURA Griffin (6) has won the Cardinia Beaconhills Ladies Club Championships after a tie with Vanessa Tranfield, winning on the 7th extra play- off hole, Vanessa narrowly missed her birdie putt while Laura rolled hers into the hole. Both players finished the 18 holes tied on a gross score of 80.
Both young ladies played exceptional golf, Vanessa finished the seven play-off holes two under the card with a chip in along the way to keep the match alive on the 5th play-off hole, with Laura finally breaking the deadlock, finishing three under par for the seven holes.
Jenny Chandler won the B Grade with a gross score of 92 to runner up Lyn Haag with 110. Mary Griffin won the C Grade with 98 gross and Angie Walpole took the runner-up place with 105 gross. Marg Livermore was the Wednesday nett winner as well as the 2011 Veterans Champion after returning a score of 206 nett.
Lyn Haag was the nett winner for the Saturday ladies with a score of 208.

The Dave McKinnon Trophy was played on Saturday to honour a great club member who freely gave his time and was committed to enhancing Beaconhills for all members. Congratulations to Simon Conn (14) for taking out the trophy after returning a nett score of 66, winning on a count back from Jim Parker. Proceeds from the event go to the Cancer Research Foundation.
Saturday was also the Monthly Medal round with Roy Solomon (7) winning A Grade with a nett 68, Simon Conn (14) won B Grade with 66 nett on a countback from Jim Parker, (Simon and Jim will have a playoff for the Medal next month), and C Grade was won by Peter Brown (23) with a nett 69.
Saturday’s round also saw the playoff for all last year’s winning medallists, with Aaron Couper taking out the Fred Paice Trophy with a nett score of 69.
Sunday’s Par competition was won by Ryan Rabot (21) with +3 on a count back.
Cardinia Beaconhills fun 9 hole “He hits It She Hits It” event (where handicap players play with a non-handicapped golfer in a foursomes format) was also played on Sunday. Geoff Sharpe managed to hit a shot straight up into the air, which then landed squarely on his partner’s head, it’s that type of day! Andrew Conn and his partner, wife Melinda Conn, won the day via a countback with a nett score of 27, from runners-up Andrew Lafferty and his partner Natalie Trenbath who also returned a score of 27. After missing out narrowly several times previously, Melinda was highly excited with her win, and proudly showed off the trophy to all during the night. It was a great day weather-wise and all had fun, enjoying the dinner and presentations afterwards.

Tuesday’s Stableford winner was Brian Ludecke (17) with 38 points on a count back to runner up Andrew Barcham (10) with 38 points on a count back.
