EMERALD Primary School will receive a boost from a Telstra Kids Fund grant.
Principal Mark Carver said the $1200 grant would support the school’s Garden to the Plate program.
“It will make sure the program gets up and running. That may not have otherwise happened,” Mr Carver said.
“The grant will help us buy the things needed for a community vegetable garden and provide the parent centre with cooking equipment.”
The Parent Centre will then be able to offer cooking classes during the day.
Telstra Foundation chairman Geoff Booth said Emerald children would benefit from the grant.
“We’re delighted to be able to make a meaningful difference to the young people at Emerald Primary School,” Mr Booth said.
Telstra Kids Fund grant recipients are nominated by Telstra employees who are directly related to children or young people who attend a not-for-profit organisation.
