STEVE Squires had a field day at the Garfield Golf Club on Saturday, winning the March monthly medal, the C Grade scratch and C Grade handicap.
Squires hit an 86, but minus his handicap of 23, finished with a nett 63.
A Grade went to Terry Webster (13) with a 65 and B Grade to Rex Turner (20) with 66. The A Grade Scratch winner was Steve Kohut with a 77 and B Grade went to Bob Calderara with an 84.
Nearest the pins were Terry McLaughlin (fourth), Ian Archer (eighth), Ron Fielding (ninth), Greg Needham (11th), Ron Norton (14th) and Mal Hirt (16th). Second shot on the fifth was Terry Mc Laughlin and the seventh Ian Archer.
Down the lines went to Peter King 67, Glen Wells, Tony Simons, Mick Howsin, Ian Nicholson and Greg Smythe with 68 and Bill Purdom, Charlie Barnes and Imre Nagy with 69.
Russell Keay had an eagle on the 10th.
Women’s winner was Geraldine Sinclair (29) with 69 on countback. The raffle winner was Greg Needham.
The Thursday competition went ahead thanks to the cancellation of the greens coring. Winner was Ron Duncan (36) with a huge 49 points. Runner-up was Des Kerr with 43 points followed by Rex Turner (20) with 42 points.
Super nine winner was Ron Duncan. The nearest the pins were Peter Johnson (fourth), P. Walsh (eighth), Peter Lacey (ninth) and Ian Johnson (11th and 14th).
The twilight on Friday night went to Grant Mc Kay with 21 points and the Sunday competition winner was J. Purcell with 41 points.
This week’s event is the Colliver Trophy with an overflow stableford event.
