Strikers waltz to win

BUNYIP’S senior side clinched its first win of the season, and it did so in style, smashing the hapless Eltham Districts 8-1 at home on Sunday.
After two draws to open the season, the Strikers weren’t fazed by the heavy pitch and muddy conditions and scored the opening goal within four minutes.
After John de Melo’s opener, Bunyip scored again before Eltham briefly came to life and exposed the Strikers’ defence to sneak its only goal for the match.
From here, the Bunyip midfield turned it on, finishing the half 3-1 up.
Strikers coach Craig Marks asked his side for composure on the ball in the second half as goal opportunities would present themselves. With this in mind, the Strikers took full advantage of a disorganised Eltham side and were soon 5-1 up.
Ed Codd and Jack Manson were dominating from the wings, giving the Bunyip forwards some fantastic opportunities.
In the centre of the midfield, Frank Zaffina, Voytek Repetowski and Sean Petersen were controlling the game with left-back Mark Ancelli causing problems for the visitors with well-taken attacking free kicks.
The Strikers piled on another three goals as they waltzed to a wet and wonderful season-opening victory.
