ANY senior or junior club would like to be in these kids’ shoes at the moment.
The Doveton under-12s soccer club on Sunday extended its two-season record to 43 wins, one draw and one loss but it’s where they are going next that has these juniors getting excited.
After making it all the way to the under-12 state championships last year, the all-conquering Doveton juniors have now been accepted into the Junior Masters Australia tournament to be held in Sydney in August.
The tournament features 20 of the nation’s best under-12 clubs and all 20 will compete for a chance to travel to Poland to play club level soccer on the world stage.
But before this the juniors will test their abilities in the Kanga Cup in Canberra.
The cup is biggest junior tournament in the southern hemisphere and will draw 228 teams to the six-day event in July.
In the meantime coach Julien Costin and his side are just happy to be playing good soccer within the local ranks.
“They had a poor start to the year, but they’re really starting to hit their straps now,” Costin said after his side toppled the league’s previous best side, Casey, 5-1 on Sunday.
