Better weather, better golf

CONDITIONS were better – and so was the golf – for the stableford event at Drouin on Saturday.
Dean Robbins (9) won A Grade with 38 points, which included a wipe on the last hole. The runner-up was Roger Boyle 37. Better scores came from Colin Zeeno with 36 and Fred Gajdobranski, Alec Blackie, Graham Austin and Greg Street, all with 35.
Jayden Bibby (26) was the B Grade winner with 36 points, on a countback from Wayne Duckett.
Also on 36 were Warren Cook and Jim Bransgrove. Peter de Vries and Liam Dwyer were next with 35 points.
Nearest to the pins went to Steve Bethune (fifth), Kevin O’Brien (eighth), Jason Stirzaker (19th) and Phil Adams, the 23rd and pro pin.
Jason Wikinson and Simon Vigilante took out the Stroud trophy after their matchplay win against David Leach and Phil Edwards.
A small field of 35 braved the conditions for the midweek stableford event. There was only one grade and the winner was Ray Mooney (33) with 40 points. Runner-up was Stephen Kohut 38. Balls down the line went to George Shand and Graham Moon 37 and Colin Zeeno 36. This Saturday is the July monthly medal.
