Crackdown on teen drinking

POLICE have issued a warning to teen drinkers – drink in public and face the consequences.
Pakenham’s Senior Sergeant Gerry Hengel said police were cracking down on drinking in the area.
“We need to remind people that they will be fined if they are found drinking in public,” he said.
“If you do drink, you will be fined by the council and police.”
Those found drinking in public places face a fine of $239 and another $60 for underage drinking.

WITNESSES are being sought after items valued at $350 were stolen from a car in Bentley Court, Pakenham, last week.
Detective Sergeant Phil Jury said the passenger window of the car was smashed before the items, including a handbag, were taken.
He said neighbours reported seeing a tall man wearing a grey top running from the area at the time.

POLICE are investigating a burglary of a house in Ulmer Road, Emerald, between 8.30am and 5.30pm on 23 June.
The house was ransacked and a number of items stolen.

A STRING of burglaries and attempted burglaries in Upper Beaconsfield has seen a number of shops broken into and ransacked over the past week.
Detective Sergeant Phil Jury said thieves broke into a hairdressing salon between 7pm on 23 June and 10.15am the next morning, ransacking the salon and taking shampoo and straighteners.
He said on the same night there was an attempted burglary at a nearby Indian Restuaurant and organic produce shop.

TWO guitars as well as other items valued at $7000 have been stolen from a house in Cardinia last week.
Police are investigating a burglary in Beazley Road, Cardinia, after unknown persons forced their way into the house through a window.
Other items stolen from the property include two computers, cash, a Playstation 3, camera and television.

TWO motorcycles and two bicycles have been stolen from a Pakenham backyard.
Detective Sergeant Phil Jury said the bikes were taken between 6.30am and 6.30pm on 21 June from a Simon Drive property.
He said the stolen bikes, a 2000 YZ 80 Yamaha and 1995 Suzuki DS as well as a torpo bicycle, were valued at $5000.

POLICE are investigating a spate of shop burglaries in Beaconsfield.
Three shops along Beaconsfield – Emerald Road were targeted between 5pm on 20 June and 6am the next day.
More than $3800 worth of items were stolen from the shops, which include a hairdressing salon, bakery and conveyancing firm.
