Four scramble to win

JOHN and Emil Ackaoui, Chris Bridge and Trevor Ball – playing off a combined handicap of 63/8 – returned a score of 565/8 to win the annual Holden Scramble ambrose event at Cardinia-Beaconhills Golf Club on Saturday.
Barry MacDonald, Tony Harrison, Peter Hellier and Leigh Jeffs (8) were the runner-ups with a score of 57, while Andrew Toon, Jimmy Cooper, Andrew Kiker and Ian Hollingsworth were third with 571/8.
The daily competition winners – on a countback – were Wayne Hassall, David Brook, Denis Smith and Graeme Taylor with a score of 577/8.
Tony Holt (10) won Sunday’s stableford with 40 points.
Tuesday’s stableford was won by Jim Harper (14). Robyn Lafferty won the Wednesday women’s stableford with 34 points. Heather Hamilton won nearest the pins on the sixth and 15th holes.
More than 60 players turned out for Thursday’s stableford, with Terry Crowe (8) winning the A Grade with 40 points. Peter Carr (19) won the B Grade with 42 points.
