Killer’s not bored on the scoreboard

JASON Kilpatrick is a bit of a cult hero at Rythdale-Officer-Cardinia.
He is not a natural when it comes to playing football, but Kilpatrick, 27, turns out week in, week out and has gained a following among teammates and fans.
Kilpatrick, who for the “love of the game” has taken up scoring duties for home matches after suffering a season-ending ankle injury, said his journey to ROC was a simple one.
“I liked the colours actually,” Kilpatrick said.
“I had been at Cranbourne and Hallam in my junior years and I was working in Pakenham and wanted somewhere different to play, and the blue and white sort of appealed to me.
“I remember my first goal in my first season and that was amazing.
“I was playing forward pocket in the reserves and I was standing in the goal square and the ball just came to me. I took a chest mark in the middle of the goal square and went back and kicked it.
“No, I wasn’t nervous… maybe I was a little bit I guess. But everyone came around to me and the crowd was going nuts as well.”
Kilpatrick, or “Killer” as he is widely known, quickly formed a reputation.
“They called me ‘Killer’ because of my last name… but it could be because of the way I play.
“I do (throw my body around a bit), I like to just go for it.”
Unfortunately, a foot injury has meant Kilpatrick will remain in the outer, but nothing will stop him from doing what he loves best.
“I suppose I like a bit of a dance,” Kilpatrick said.
“The best part about being at ROC are the club functions and everyone likes to see me up on the dance floor.”
