Police probe sexual offence

By Justin Robertson
POLICE are seeking witnesses to an incident at Cardinia Life, where a man exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl and her mum outside the women’s changing rooms last week.
Detective Sergeant Phil Jury said the Dandenong Sexual Offence Unit was investigating the incident further.
While incidents at the centre are extremely rare, Cardinia Council media communications manager Paul Dunlop said the shire and the YMCA were aware of the alleged incident at Cardinia Life and have been assisting police with their inquiries.
“All areas of the facility are under constant supervision and staff are on hand to monitor patrons’ behaviour at all times,” he said.
Mr Dunlop said council would immediately investigate ways to further improve security.
“With more than 2000 visitors per day, Cardinia Life continues to grow in popularity, and our aim is to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for families and people of all ages,” he said.
“We will continue to work in partnership with the YMCA.”
“We are also working with local police to ensure appropriate action is taken in response to this issue,” he said.
