A MOUSE plague welcomed 11 women from the Pakenham Golf Club when they arrived in Corowa for the annual trip away recently.
A sign in the motel rooms advised people to contact reception if any mice were sighted. However, the phones weren’t necessary … screams up there are guaranteed to be heard kilometres away.
Luckily, though, no vermin were sighted and a fun week was enjoyed by all. The three-day event was won by president Sue Menzel, who shot 35, 38 and 35 for a total of 108.
The secret five was won by Marg Andrews, 33.
The usual “dress up” was held on the Thursday night – the theme was wedding headgear.
So with a variety of creations in place, the girls headed to the clubhouse for dinner … much to the amusement of the locals who couldn’t believe the sight of these “mature ladies” in hats, veils and wigs.
A great time was had by all, and the Corowa members made them really welcome.
Back home and a fun event, a 3BBB stableford, was played in fine weather.
The winners were Ann Donovan, Marg Tyrner and Irene Walker on 47 points, followed by Joan Rawson, Jenny Bayard and Dawn van Roy on 46 and Sue Menzel, Sue King and Dini Krytenberg on 43.
It’s monthly medal this week. Late entries or cancellations to the pro shop.
