STEVE ‘Scooter’ Bethune will not forget July monthly Medal Day at the Drouin Golf Club.
Bethune fired a 65 nett off his 12 handicap to win the medal – and the A grade – in a field of 108 players.
The A grade runner up was Kevin O’Brien, 70, on a countback from Danny Gorman and Stan Gadjobranski, while Peter Devries (19), with a nett 70, beat Paul Davie (71).
Mick Hanley (25) won C Grade with the good return of 69 nett. Steve Roberts was runner up with 70 on a countback from Rob Woodward.
Balls down the line went to 72 on a countback. Nearest to pins were Tom Carroll (fifth), Eric Robbins (eighth), Graeme Barnes (19th) and Stan Gadjobranski (23rd, pro pin).
More than 100 players enjoyed a stableford round last Wednesday. Phil Thomson (14) won A grade with 37 on a countback from Jason Stirzaker. Darryl Bryce and Max Henning followed with 36. Angus McArthur (17) had the best score, winning B Grade with 41 points. The runner up was Bob Simpson, 36, followed by Ken Cooper, 35. Gerry Engelsted (36) won C Grade with 39 points. The C Grade runner up was Don Thomson, 36, on a countback from Gavin Feaver.
Balls down the line went to 34 on a countback. Nearest to pins were scored by John Denholm (fifth), John Wolswinkel (eighth), Stan Weller (19th) and Phil Thomson (23rd, pro pin).
