AN ALTERCATION on the corner of Racecourse Road and Princes Highway has left a 27-year-old male with a stick lodged in his neck.
The incident on 9 July is believed to have started after a disagreement between the Pakenham male and his girlfriend.
Four other males, wearing hooded jumpers and aged between 16 and 22, intervened in the incident at 11.40pm.
At this stage, it is unclear why the group intervened.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of the man having fallen on the stick.
The Pakenham male has been transferred to The Alfred hospital and placed in an induced coma.
Police are keen to interview the Pakenham male who was discharged on Monday.
Police are interested in speaking to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
