Stars give Demons hell

IN AN awesome display that will send shivers up all it rivals, flag favourite Garfield kicked 33 goals and pulverised Kooweerup by 193 points on Saturday.
The Stars dominated from go to whoa. Playing on its home ground at Beswick Street, Garfield scored eight first-quarter goals, a portent of events to follow.
The Stars led by 84 points at half-time and were in an uncompromising mood, ramming on 10 goals in each of the third and fourth quarters.
Not surprisingly, Garfield had a plethora of good players, led by the talented Matt Hobbs, who crafted many forward moves with his weaving runs.
Rising star Dylan Collis (five goals) prised open the Kooweerup defence many times and showed why he is regarded as a top prospect and Brett Reid, Daniel Fry and Jim Bow, with four goals each, took it in turns to menace the Demons’ defence.
Ruckman Tom Marsh fed the smalls and picked up disposals all over the field and Brent Eastwell was his ever-busy self around the packs.
Kooweerup was miserable and going into the last quarter had scored only a paltry two behinds. Fortunately, one of its promising youngsters, Billy Willis, steered through two goals in the last quarter to help avert total embarrassment.
Defenders Craig Dyker, Brett Hobson and Matt Jackman stood firm in the face of the pounding, while wingman Matt Brady and coach Rhys Morgan strived hard.
