GOOD high prices remain around in the vealer market with this week’s top making to 275.6 cents for several quality head at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul.
Other categories performed well with steers remaining steady and heifers lifting two cents on average.
Bullocks did ease slightly by two cents as one major bullock buyer was absent. All categories except veal recorded rises in the top price.
Fifty seven bullocks eased two cents to 190.9 cents and reached 205.2 cents.
Thirty six heifers rose 12 cents to 192.8 cents and the top was 220.0 cents.
While steers remained firm at 189.6 cents, and topped at 214.6 cents, 184 veal reached a top of 275.6 cents with the average two cents easier at 225.1 cents.
There were several pens of lighter veal which resulted in a slip in the per head price to $753.
A fair to good quality yarding of 345 cows on Thursday resulted in a gain of 2.4 cents on average to 145. The top sale was 170.6 cents which remained around for several pens.
Twelve bulls jumped 15 cents on average to 167.7 cents.
Quality was reasonable but demand strong. This also resulted in the top rising five cents to 178.2 cents.
