Garfield ladies celebrate

TERRIBLE conditions greeted golfers at Garfield on Saturday but the show rolled on regardless with some good Stableford scores still being returned.
John Coutts (16) won A Grade with 37 points while Garry Scholes (19) took home top honours for the day and the B Grade prize with 41 points.
Down the line balls went to Brian Potter 39, Don Smith 38, Ken Pettiford 37, Grant McKay and Harry Matthews with 36.
Nearest the pins went to G.Hobson (fourth), G.Scholes (eighth), P.Skinner (ninth), K.Pettiford (11th), R.Calderara (14th) and K.Pettiford on the 16th. Closest second shot went to P.Lacey on the seventh.
The Leo Fallon mixed event was interrupted twice and eventually called off, it is anticipated that the event will be re-scheduled to mid January.

The wind blew up for the Men’s Stableford event on Thursday but it proved no problem for Lawrence Begg (29) who came in with a great score of 42 points.
Runner-up was Nigel Goldsworthy (27) with 39 points while down the line balls went to John Sanderson (14) and Trevor Franklin (14) with 37 points and Eric Harvey (24) and Raymond Jones (28) with 36 points.
Nearest the pins went to P.Johnson (fourth), M.Matthews (eighth), L.Begg (ninth), T.Webster (11th), R.Morley (14th) and J.Wade on the 16th.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:SUNDAY

After the heavy rains on Saturday night the course was holding a little water but was still playable and a dedicated group took to the course.
Glen Wheelen (26) was the winner with 34 points with Mick Matthews (21) the day’s runner-up with 32 points.

The Garfield Ladies held their annual Presentation Day last week with all trophies being presented by Ladies Captain Ronda Knee. A magnificent Christmas lunch was prepared by Maree Rogers which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the Ladies.
