TWO rounds down and one to go in the Pakenham Golf Club’s Championships for this year as some of the early favorites fought back well on Saturday after some first round jitters the previous week.
In A Grade on Saturday, Tym Davey (3) played the round of the day to secure the day’s top prize with a 69 nett and book himself a place in this week’s final group. In B Grade, Barry Williams (21) won with a nett 67 while Andrew Wraight (29) had the day’s best score with a 65 to win C Grade.
Nearest the pins went to Mark Klaver (second), Michael Barth (fifth), Geoff Sullivan (eighth), Colin Maclean (14th) and Tym Davey on the 16th. Best second shots for the day went to Daniel Male (third), David Nagel (sixth) and Nick Hall on the 17th. Clint Walker took out the A Grade Longest Drive while Luke March won B Grade and Matthew Hogan won C Grade.

C Grade – Alex Green, Kevin McCrae, Adam Williamson, Grant McCullough, Graeme Steel, Ross Stewart, Rhys Dempster and Glen Easto. All players in the top eight are in the seeded draw which tees off with C Grade 11.07am, B Grade 11.21am and A Grade 11.35am. Tee Times for all other players will stay the same this Saturday.

Peter Diss with 39 points won from Michael Davey with 38 points. Balls down the line went to 36 points on a count back and nearest the pins went to Glenn Charles (second), Ray Shalders (eighth) and Al Campbell on the 14th.

Only nine players took to the course on Wednesday and the competition winner was Hayden Bristow with 29 points.

Steven Smith won with 22 points. Scott Phillips was runner-up with 21 points on a count back. Down the line golf balls went to 16 points.

Luke March won with a score of 38 points while balls down the line went to 34 points.

THE Pakenham Ladies had a fun day on the course last Thursday when they played Hartball.
The winners on the day were the team of Liz Garvey, Shirley Roberts, Lyn Murray and Muriel Mills with a nett 66. Runners-up were Kay Jones, Marg Blake, Phillipa Bebee and Leah Barker with 72.85. Sue Menzel, Sue King, Joan Rawson and Leanne Barker were next best on 73.25.This week the ladies are away at Drouin for the Brett Ogle trophy day.
Please be at Drouin by 9am. The following week is nine holes at home followed by Christmas lunch and end of year presentations.
It is also a day where it is hoped to welcome back several of our past members.

The boys travelled to Settlers Run and went down 4-2. There were some close matches that went to the final hole but some big losses as well.
Corey Porter provided the highlight of the day with a 2 up victory while debutant Dylan-Jack Murphy squared his match on the last hole. Brad O’Brien also squared his match while Sean Henderson, Jamie Asche and Brodie Pintar all went down in their battles.
Even though the team failed to make finals the experience and knowledge that the boys gained from this will hold them in good stead when the West Gippsland Pennant season starts in late January.
