Saturday was the December Monthly Medal at Drouin and a good field of 121 players turned out.
Craig Cottier (15) had a much welcomed return to form, firing a great round of nett 68 to take out both A Grade and the Monthly Medal. A Grade runner up was Stan Gadjobranski on 69, followed by Warren Cook on 70.
Peter Devries (18) won B Grade with an excellent 69, from runner up Michael Barry on 71 and Noel Brereton 71. In C Grade it was Gerard Bongiorno (27) taking the chocolates with a nett 71. Runner up was Ritchie Thomas 75, on a count back from Ray Cropley also on 75. Nearest the pins went to Rod Hammond (second), Phil Dignan (fifth), J.P. Santo (19th) and Roger Crowe on the 23rd (pro pin).
WEDNESDAY
Another wet day reduced the field to only 19 players, meaning only one grade. The winner was Barry Beechey (16) with 32 points. Congratulations to Phil Mapleson who had a ‘hole in one’ on the fifth hole, whilst playing the nine hole comp last Monday.
This Saturday is a Par event and on Sunday we have a Guest Day 4BBB Medley. Also a reminder that on Saturday 17 December we have the Open Christmas Medley 4BBB – shotgun start at 10am (register prior to the day in the Pro Shop).
CHARITY DAY
Last Friday saw Drouin host its annual Charity Day with the proceeds this year going towards the local Drouin CFA.
Many clubs were represented and 95 players were in the field. The men played Stableford and the ladies played 4BBB.
The winner in A Grade was Steve Porch (0) with 37 points from runner-up Neil McComb on 36 points. B Grade winner was Ray Mooney with 38 points from runner-up Con Norris on 37. Best nine out went to Rob Kirkham 19 (C/B), and best nine in went to James Cecil with 22. Nearest the pins went to Gordon Warren (second) and Noel Brereton on the 17th. Down the line balls went to David Leach and Gordon Warren 35, Lyndsay Robinson, Peter Cannon, and Gordon Bland with 34 on a count back.
In the Ladies event the A Grade winners were Dagma Forbes and Di Moody with 45 points from runners-up Irene Thomas and Kylie Golding on 40 points.
B Grade winners were Judy Bibby and Judy Malady with 41 points from runners-up Robyn Eacott and Marg Rowe with 40 points.
Best nine out was Helen Moon and Kay Dumbleton with 22 points and best nine in went to Marg Heslin and Joan Rawson with 21 points. Nearest the pins went to Kay Dumbleton on the fifth and Wendy Wilcox on the 14th. Down the line balls went to Marg Purcell and Bev Goodwin on 40 points, Ann Roberts and Judy Shearman on 39, Mary Clark and Carol Ronalds 38 and Audrey Smethurst and Lorna Hoskins also on 38.
