Between the devil and the deep blue

SOME prefer the gentler nature of British comedy, as opposed to its more raucous American cousin.
For that reason, this British film appealed – a summer answer to the American gross-out comedies, surely.
With a plot of four awkward British teens jetting off to sunny Greece for mayhem and nookie (not necessarily in that order), what could possibly go awry?
Well, how wrong can a reviewer be?
From the opening scenes, the audience confronts the sinking feeling that a terrible mistake has been made.
The mistake involved them forking over $18 to see this desperately unfunny celluloid turkey.
Don’t worry about laughing – you won’t even crack a smile as this festering pile of turgid crap wends its way towards oblivion. It’s comedy with a difference – in that it’s not funny.
The plot is inevitable, the characters unlikable, and the whole thing hopelessly drawn out.
I literally cannot identify one redeeming feature of this godawful mess.
Surprisingly, it has received mainly positive reviews – rest assured, those reviewers simply cannot have seen it.
Incredibly, this shocker is allegedly based on a successful TV series.
I can’t confirm that this film is actually linked to demise of what was once the British Empire, but I strongly suspect that to be the case.
Avoid at all costs.
